Acting and Visual Art with dado
ABOUT
Using visual art practices and exercises, a variety of acting techniques based in physical and intellectual processes, analysis, and exercises, actors construct and expand a fertile baseline from which to make exciting and dynamic choices. You do not need to be an artist to take this class! :) Bring your favorite scene partner, or the instructor (dado) will pair you, that is also fine. This class is an open scene study. The instructor will supply material if needed but also welcomes new material/text.
In addition, 4 students interested in directing are encouraged to take the class. These directors are in conversation with students, dado and each other, and are observing actors at work. All directors learn to work well with actors, and this is an opportunity to commune and study with other directors during a live, active process.

RIGHT NOW, written by Catherine-Anne Toupin and translated by Chris Campbell, is about Alice and Ben, a couple in an apartment building. Alice is bereft and haunted. While dealing with her mysterious and persistent neighbors next door, she struggles to keep a grasp on what is left of her shattered reality. RIGHT NOW is an unsettling modern folktale that explores the darker recesses of the mercurial relationships to motherhood, and the human ability to normalize our traumas.
Stereo Matinee
Join us Saturday July 22nd at 7pm for “Stereo Matinee”. An evening of high-fidelity performances paired with immersive visuals.
Dan Bitney (Tortoise, Isotope 217) and LeRoy Bach (Wilco, Joan of Arc) will kick things off with they’re highly civilized, improvised grooves.
p. a pritchett (Panoramic & True) will interpret his folk-rock suicide ballads with solo electric guitar and voice in support of his new EP, FEVER DREAM.
Rounding out the sonic landscape will be producer and bassist Curtis Ruptash as Basskase (Peabody and Sherman, Guerilla Warfare) and The Temporarily Hidden featuring David Suycott (Fila Brazillia, Machines of Loving Grace, Stabbing Westward) providing downtempo trip-hop flavored jams to send you off into the summer night.
Special thanks to Richard Sullivan, Garrett Bauer and Kirk Anderson/facility theatre.
